LadBaby attempting to get second Christmas number one with I Love Sausage Rolls… but it’s for a good cause

LadBaby shocked the nation last year when he beat Ariana Grande and Ava Max to claim the coveted Christmas number one with an ode to sausage rolls.

So in 2019, he’s attempting to do the double.

The YouTuber has announced the release of his new song I Love Sausage Rolls – a tribute to one of the nation’s favourite snacks, set to Joan Jett’s I Love Rock’n’Roll.

The lyrics? ‘I love sausage rolls, so put another one in the oven baby.’

The artwork for the single, out this Friday, sees LadBaby – real name Mark Ian Hoyle – his wife Roxanne, and their sons Phoenix and Kobe dressed in sausage roll printed tracksuits and running across the zebra crossing at Abbey Road.

While it all might sound a bit ridiculous, it’s all for a good cause.

I Love Sausage Rolls is in support of the Trussell Trust, which hopes to end the need for food banks in the UK by supporting more than 1,200 food banks across the nation.

Last year’s song We Built This City On Sausage Rolls – a parody of Starship’s We Built This Cuty – raised vital funds for the Trussell Trust that provided over 70,000 food parcels for those in need last Christmas.

LadBaby, 32, said: ‘We were blown away by the support we received on our Christmas Number 1 single last year and how far that money has gone into changing the lives of families living in poverty across the uk. We’re continually looking for ways we can support food bank charity the Trussell Trust further as the size of the problem still facing so many adults (and children) is huge and we all need to do whatever we can to say goodbye to poverty once and for all in the UK!

The song will raise funds for the Trussell Trust

‘If we can use our social media presence for good by singing about sausage rolls, giving people something to smile about and helping families eat this year, then why wouldn’t we. Officially, the most unanticipated single of the decade…again.’

Director of policy and research at the Trussell Trust, Garry Lemon, said: ‘We were overwhelmed at the support shown last year in getting LadBaby’s song to Christmas Number One, and it’s fantastic to be chosen by LadBaby again as the charity benefiting from money made by the single.

‘It’s not right that any one in our country needs to use a food bank but we know what needs to change. The money raised will help us support our network of food banks to provide the best possible emergency help, while we work towards a future where no one needs a food bank. Thank you so much.’

The Hoyle family have plenty of competition in the race for Christmas number one, though – Tones and I is currently on track to land an 11th week at number one in the UK, while Ellie Goulding’s cover of Joni Mitchell’s River is hot on her heels.

Lewis Capaldi, Robbie Williams and Tyson Fury and Bastille are also all in with a chance.

LadBaby began vlogging his journey to parenthood in 2016, with his parenting hacks and videos with his family achieving him nearly 800,000 subscribers.

I Love Sausage Rolls is available to pre-order and pre-save ahead of its release on Friday 13 December.
