Labour vs Conservative: Who should I vote for in election – what parties stand for


Labour and the Conservatives are directly competing for a Parliamentary majority in 2019, as Jeremy Corbyn seeks to deny Boris Johnson from gaining any further ground. The 2019 ballot is known as a Brexit election, with many people treating it as a second referendum.

What do the main parties stand for?

Election 2019 has been billed as a definitive answer to the Brexit “deadlock” as Boris Johnson puts it.

The Prime Minister has focussed the Conservative Party on a “Get Brexit Done” slogan, which he has repeated with gusto during his television appearances.

Labour has given its position on Brexit but focussed on providing other promises to the British public.

Otherwise, the leader has made several lofty promises for the UK, among them nationalised broadband.

The party claims it will have free broadband for the country by 2030, which it will accomplish by part-nationalising BT.

They would also introduce a 32-hour working week, without loss of pay, within 10 years.

Labour has also promised a “green industrial revolution”, a swathe of new public funds, and to rebuild the UK’s public services.
