The deputy Labour leadership candidate demanded the Government increase the number of tests, and explained her family were “devastated” but “angry”.

She said: “My uncle had a fall he didn’t have COVID19. He caught it in hospital and has now sadly died from COVID19. Just a few weeks ago we buried his only Son.

“We are devastated as a family but I’m also angry. Government needs to Test everyone who works in the hospitals without delay!”

Fellow Labour MP Bell Riberiro-Addy sent her support, tweeting: “So sorry to hear this Dawn. My condolences to you and your family”.

Ms Butler had previously bashed the Government for not providing the NHS with enough equipment.

Just days ago she tweeted: “The government are making excuses for not getting you the right equipment. This is a national scandal!

“And for people telling me to support the government I say. I will support all on the front line and so should you!”

It comes after mounting criticism of the UK’s low testing capacity, which currently enables the NHS to carry out just 12,700 a day.

Only 8,000 were done yesterday too – and just 2,000 desperate health workers have had their tests.

Public Health England want to reach 25,000 a day by the middle of April, No10 has said.

Britain’s death toll rose by more than 500 yesterday – and is predicted to hit 1,000 a day by the weekend.
