Labour bosses ‘scrap plan to hold another Labour Live festival’ after Jezfest flopped and lost thousands of pounds

LABOUR bosses have apparently scrapped a second “Jezfest” event this summer after last year’s festival lost thousand of pounds.

Labour Live was scheduled to take place again this summer despite the first edition being widely mocked as a flop.

But there are currently no plans to hold the festival in the next few months while party chiefs have quietly dropped any mention of it.

And Labour has not booked the 20,000-capacity venue used to host last June’s get-together.

Labour Live featured bands such as Clean Bandit and the Magic Numbers, as well as political speeches by Jeremy Corbyn and his top allies.

It was held in a North London which had space for 20,000 revellers – but only 13,000 turned up even after thousands of tickets were given away free by the unions.

And Labour’s treasurer admitted the event, planned as a massive money-spinner, ended up losing cash.

Despite the turmoil, party chairman told attendees: “There will be a Labour Live next year, and it will be twice as big!”

No date has been announced for any rerun of Labour Live.

A party spokesman told The Sun: “We will be setting out our plans for events this summer in due course.”

Haringey Council confirmed that Labour has not booked the White Hart Lane recreation for another festival this year.

Venues which hold 10,000 or more people must typically be reserved at least six months in advance.
