Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, 42, is dating Scott Ratcliff, 30, a Major in the Parachute Regiment.
The actress admitted she gets “anxiety” when her partner goes away for a period of time, leaving the pair with no or little communication.
She added it is “extra worrying” at times when she doesn’t hear from him.
Kym told The Sun: “There is always anxiety, it is always stressful when he goes away.
“There may not be an actual war threat currently but there’s always a risk when you’re in these dangerous places.
“And it can be extra worrying when you aren’t able to communicate for periods of time.”
Explaining further, the actress reflected on a time she didn’t hear from Scott for three weeks.
“There are times when he is out on exercises and I don’t hear from him for three weeks because there is just no signal,” she added.
Details of Kym and Scott’s relationship first emerged back in June.
The pair struck up a romance after meeting through Kym’s co-star Antony Cotton, 44, following her split from her ex-boyfriend Matt Baker.
At the time, a source told OK! Magazine: “Kym has been seeing Scott but they’re both taking things slowly.
“Scott’s a Major in the Parachute Regiment and comes from Scotland.
“They’ve been on a few dates over the last few weeks, and they’re still getting to know each other, but you know they’re taking it as it comes.”
Kym has since been speaking about their relationship in her column with the publication.
The actress insisted that, despite their sometimes long-distance relationship, they are very much in love.
She said: “It’ll all be fine though as we’re in a good place – it’s just part of his life.
“Yeah, it’s love,” she added of their romance. “He has a smile that has the ability to light up any room. He’s got a lovely aura about him.”
Kym was previously married to actor Jack Ryder, 38, and Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, 44.
She has two children; David, 24, and Emily, 22, with her ex-partner Dave Cunliffe.
Kym also shares eight-year-old daughter Polly with her ex-husband Jamie.
