Kylie Minogue fights back tears at Glastonbury as she reflects on breast cancer diagnosis

Kylie Minogue, 51, opened up about her experience with breast cancer to crowds at Glastonbury during her performance this evening. The singer was originally set to headline the Pyramid Stage at the festival in 2005, but cancelled her appearance when she was diagnosed with the disease. Kylie became overcome with emotion as she covered her face with her hands. She then told the audience at Worthy Farm: “I just want to take a moment…”

The star then took a moment to pause and turn away from the crowd as she attempted to fight back tears.

When she felt ready to speak, she turned back to face her fans and explained: “In 2005 I was meant to be here on this very stage.

“Circumstances meant I didn’t make it. I was watching in Australia wishing things had been different but life is what it is.”

The Especially For You hitmaker was supported by the audience as they cheered her on.

She then continued: “We’re all here in this moment.

“It always dawns on me about my story, and not only that by our story. It’s 30 years of stories.

“Back then when I was watching some of the artists who covered my songs. That is the spirit and gracious nature of Glastonbury and people I guess.”

The blonde beauty followed her heartfelt statement by surprising the audience with a guest appearance from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 42.

Kylie introduced the British musician by adding: ”I asked one of those people if he would join me in this momentous moment and sing that song together.

“He said ‘alright i’ll come and play in the band.’”

Chris made his entrance and played an accompaniment for Can’t Get You Out Of My Head on the guitar.

Elsewhere, Kylie revealed how her ex-boyfriend Michael Hutchence “opened up a whole new world for her”.

The star spoke about late singer Michael, who died in 1997 at the age of 37, in a new film entitled Mystify: Michael Hutchence.

In the movie, Kylie said: “Sex, love, food, drugs, music, travel, books, you name it, he wanted to experience it,

“As his partner I got to experience a lot of that as well,

“If you’re a sensual being, all of your senses need stimulation. He definitely awakened my desire for things in my world.”

Kylie is now dating Paul Solomons, 43, after her split with ex-fiancé Joshua Sasse in 2017.
