Kyle Richards will be reprising her role as Lindsey Wallace for the upcoming sequel of Halloween.

The actress, who portrayed the character as a child star in the original 1978 film, will be returning for the much-awaited sequel to the 2018 reboot, titled Halloween Kills.

Halloweenmovies.com confirmed the exciting news on 30 August, with Halloween series producer Malek Akkad saying: ‘We couldn’t be happier, and are so excited that Kyle is coming home to her Halloween roots.’

Kyle also made an announcement on Instagram, saying she was ‘beyond honoured’ to be returning.

‘It’s true. I am beyond honoured and thrilled to be a part of #halloweenkills and reprising my role as Lindsey Wallace,’ she said.

As she later thanked the cast and crew, she added: ‘I have always been proud to have been a part of Halloween. Bringing Lindsey back is very exciting!’

In the original film, Lindsey was one of the children that was being babysat by Laura Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) on Halloween night, when iconic villain Michael Myers (Nick Castle) embarks on a killing spree.

Universal Pictures previously announced back in July that they are planning two back-to-back sequels, following on from the success of the 2018 horror flick.

The first, titled Halloween Kills, is scheduled for release in October 2020, while the third, Halloween Ends, is set to be out in October 2021.

David Morgan Green, who directed the 2018 film, will be returning for both instalments, with Jamie Lee Curtis also set to return.

Halloween was a massive success upon its release in 2018, grossing nearly $250 worldwide, and receiving praise from critics and fans alike.

The film was a direct sequel to the 1978 classic of the same name, and sees Laurie prepare to face Michael Myers (this time played by James Jude Courtney) for a final showdown on Halloween night, forty years after she survived his killing spree in the original movie.
