Actress Kristin Chenoweth was in floods of tears as she reacted to the tragic news of Naya Rivera’s death on Monday.

Naya, 33, was declared dead on Monday after her body was found in Lake Piru, four days after she went missing on a boating trip with her son.

Following the confirmation, fans and co-stars have been sharing their tributes, with Kristen, 51, taking to Instagram Story to share her shock at the heartbreaking loss.

The talented star had a guest role on several episodes in the hit show Glee and she reminisced on working with Naya.

She sobbed: ‘A long time ago, I was invited to be a guest star on a show called Glee, and I had the honor of meeting all my babies, those kids who still make me proud.

‘And I want them to know I still love them, and I’m proud of them.’

‘And with Naya gone, I know how that hurts them,’ she continued tearfully. ‘She was such a sweet, sweet child, and to see her singing with her baby really gets me.’

The Wicked star went on to reflect on the loss of her ‘longest and oldest friend’ John Sawyer, who passed away on Mother’s Day this year.

Kristen admitted: ‘I thought maybe John was up in heaven, with her, preparing the way.

Taking to Instagram afterwards, she shared a picture of Naya and Josey as she wrote: ‘Thank you for what you gave the world. I love you.’
