Knives Out Warning: Daniel Craig Doesn't Want You Spoiling the Surprise

Releasing a film that is chock full of twists, turns and surprises is always something of a gamble, and the recent whodunnit Knives Out is alleged to be brimming with so much mystery that to know even the tiniest details of the film could well ruin it for you. Well, in the name of secrecy and audience satisfaction, Daniel Craig, one of the film’s stars, has spoken up about spoilers, pleading with fans not to ruin the cinematic experience for others.

“You could spoil this movie. I don’t think it would spoil this movie. But, if you can watch it and tell your friends to go see it… it’s worth it for them to then go and get a kick out of it. Because going to this movie cold would be the best thing on earth.”

Even though Daniel Craig states that having the movie spoiled before having seen it does not completely undo the experience, he does liken going in unaware as being ‘the best thing on earth’. Very high praise indeed, and something that avid film fans will not want to miss out on.

His fellow costar, and anti-spoiler comrade, Jamie Lee Curtis uses her words a tad more harshly when addressing all those who mean to diminish Knives Out with spoilers. Be forewarned she was not kind in her description, as she decided to play detective and attempt to analyse the psychology of many a film fan’s most loathsome troll.

“It’s a weird power trip. I know something you don’t know, and somehow it elevates you, but in fact it diminishes you greatly, if you really think about it. Because it makes you very small to ruin the delicious surprise… It’s like going up to someone and going, ‘You’re having a surprise party’ Well, fuck you!”

Well, she certainly can not be accused of holding back.

Knives Out comes from acclaimed writer and director Rian Johnson who pays tribute to mystery mastermind Agatha Christie in this fun, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect. When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

Featuring an all-star ensemble cast including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, has been very well received, currently standing at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Both Craig and Curtis should be applauded for trying to retain the best experience for fans, and we can all hopefully see the whodunnit unfold unspoiled very soon as the film is now in cinemas. This comes from Youtube.
