Knives Out trailer: first look at Rian Johnson's murder mystery

Knives Out, Rian Johnson’s follow up to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will be landing at the end of the year courtesy of Lionsgate, but you can start looking forward to it right now (if you weren’t already), because a first look at the upcoming film has arrived to intrigue you further.

The project is Johnson’s updated spin on a classic whodunnit murder mystery, and follows a family gathering that goes badly wrong when its patriarch (Christopher Plummer) kicks the bucket, and two detectives (Daniel Craig and Lakeith Stanfield) pop along to investigate what the hell happened.

Boasting an all-star cast that also includes a very sweary post-Captain America Chris Evans, as well as Michael Shannon, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson and Toni Collette, here’s the first trailer for Knives Out

Shannon, who plays a character named Walt Robinson in the film, had a great time making Knives Out. “I had a blast, man, that was so much fun,” he told Slashfilm. “It’s a murder-mystery movie, and I’ve never done one of those, you know, good old-fashioned kind of Agatha Christie-type things with a big cast. All the characters are kind of eccentric and whatnot. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Also, Rian is a super, super sweet guy.”

Knives Out will be released in the UK on 29 November.
