Knives Out cast: Who is in the cast of Star Wars director’s movie Knives Out?

Knives Out is a new whodunnit from the mind of Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. The film, which chronicles a murder investigation in pure Agatha Christie-style, features a whole host of famous people. But who is in Knives Out and how does it bring the James Bond, Star Wars and Marvel franchises together?

While Plummer’s character is the focus of the film in many ways, the star is James Bond himself, Daniel Craig.

Craig plays Benoit Blanc, a mysterious detective who is aided in his quest by detectives played by LaKeith Stanfield and Noah Segan.

Blanc has a whole host of suspects to sift through, including a Marvel superhero – Chris Evans – who is performing as a character miles away from Captain America in the role of Ransom Drysdale, Harlan’s eldest grandson.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Don Johnson, both huge stars whose careers have spanned decades, play Ransom’s mother and father, Linda and Richard Drysdale, with Linda being the daughter of Harlan.

Linda’s brother is Walt, a sad and under-appreciated man played by Michael Shannon, while Riki Lindholme plays his spouse, Donna, and Jaeden Martell plays his son, Jacob.

Toni Collette plays Joni Thrombey, the mercenary widow of the third Thrombey child while Katherine Langford plays her daughter, Meg.

The eldest family member is played by K Callan, who plays the silent matriarch of the Thrombeys, Great Nana Thrombey, Harlan’s mother.

Two other important characters in the film are actually outside the Thrombey family – Harlan’s nurse Marta and Fran, the housekeeper.

Ana de Armas, the second part of the James Bond connections in the film, plays Marta, whose role is incredibly important – made obvious by her featuring so heavily in the trailer.

Edi Patterson plays Fran, while Harlan’s lawyer, Alan Stevens, is played by Frank Oz: Kermit himself.

Marta’s mother is played by Marlene Forte, Mr Proofroc is played by M Emmet Walsh, and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a voice cameo.

While the stars on-screen are incredibly important, it is also important to note the man behind the scenes: writer, producer and director Rian Johnson.

Johnson’s work has spanned many years but he has become increasingly famous since he took on the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Now, he is reported to be writing a whole new trilogy for the Star Wars universe, moving away from the Skywalker saga, which comes to an end with the next movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

One thing is for sure, while Knives Out is certainly very different to Star Wars, it will likely go down well with Johnson fans.

Knives Out is in cinemas on November 29
