Kit Harington appeared on Saturday Night Live last weekend and surprised viewers with his clean-shaven appearance.
The English actor, who is most well-know for his portrayal of Jon Snow in HBO’s Game of Thrones, appeared on the sketch show ahead of Sunday’s premiere of the eighth and final series.
The 32-year-old star, who normally sports a rugged beard, shaved off his famous facial hair in order to take on the role of several different characters in various comedy sketches for the American TV show.
During his opening monologue on SNL, Kit introduced himself to the live audience and commented on his new look, saying: “My name is Kit Harington, although many of you do probably know me as Jon Snow. Now I’ve just shaved my beard so this is more of a prepubescent Jon Snow.”
Trying hard not to give away any spoilers, Kit side-stepped questions about the fantasy drama during a question and answer segment.
When an audience member asked, “Who wins Game of Thrones?”, the London-born actor answered: “I’m not at liberty to reveal that information.”
He then reiterated the point by adding: “I’m sorry but I’m not revealing how the show ends.”
At which point, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the show, stood up to cheers from the crowd to pose a question to her co-star.
She asked: “ Well… alright… could you give us a general sense of how it ends?”
When Kit reminded her that she was in the show and should already know the answer, she added: “Well yeah but I forgot, it’s been so damn long since the last season, plus a lot of my scenes are talking to a dragon, which is just a tennis ball on a green pole, so I’ve no idea what’s actually happening.”
Following more questions from a person dressed up as Game of Thrones baddie The Knight King and another from John Bradley, who plays Jon’s closest friend Sawmill Tarley, the British star’s wife Rosie Leslie asked the question everyone was dying to know.
The 32-year-old actress, who met her husband on the hit show, asked him, ”How soon can you grow back that beard?”
