Harry Styles takes his relationship advice so seriously he’s prepared to pause a gig to make sure he’s dishing out sound guidance to fans.

The Watermelon Sugar singer paused his show in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on Wednesday after he spotted a fan holding up a sign which read, ‘Should I text him?’

According to Harry – who is currently dating Olivia Wilde – he’s not about playing games as he dished the tough love. With a hint of The Notebook, naturally.

Addressing the question on stage, Harry said: ‘In my opinion, if you should, then this isn’t even a question.

‘If we’re playing games … If you’re wondering, “Should I text him? Can’t text him too soon … And now I’m thinking about double texting and that’s whole other risky business …”‘

Quoting Joan Allen’s character Annie Hamilton from The Notebook, Harry went on: ‘My personal opinion is that if there’s any sort of games: Trash, trash, trash, not for you.’

At this point, the crowd erupted into cheers as social media users also reacted to the moment with digital tears of joy and momentous support for the singer.

‘Imagine a guy asking you why you didn’t text him and you have to say “sorry harry styles told me not to and then he called you trash”,’ one accurately mused on Twitter.

A lot of people were taking his ‘trash trash trash’ comment and running with it, as others appreciated his honest feedback.

We can only assume there are no games in Harry’s relationship with Olivia (practice what you preach, and all that) with the pair believed to be dating since January when they were pictured holding hands at a friend’s wedding after meeting on the set of Don’t Worry Darling.

The director and actress has been a solid support for Harry at his shows, after previously showing up and having a boogie at dates including his Las Vegas concert earlier this month.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed a familiar face being led through the arena while flanked by security. The woman wore a face mask but it was pretty clear it was Olivia who looked sophisticated in a white suit.
