Kimberley Walsh openly wept as she saw her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts win The Masked Singer tonight.

The 34-year-old was unmasked as Queen Bee after weeks of speculation and won the entire competition with her stirring rendition of Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved.

Despite the show being filmed in advance, Nicola was joined by one of her fellow Call The Shots hitmakers to watch the episode unfold live,

Nicola, Kimberley, Cheryl, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle made up Girls Aloud, where they achieved a record-breaking run of 20 consecutive UK Top 10 hits, including four number ones.

And it’s fair to say Kimbo got a teensy bit emotional seeing her best pal take home the trophy, she was filmed on a friend’s Instagram story hugging the flame-haired singer.

Nicola was up against the Hedgehog, who was revealed to be comedian Jason Manford and the Octopus, who was unmasked as opera singer Katherine Jenkins.

Judges Rita Ora and Davina McCall had previously correctly guessed that the Sound of the Underground hitmaker was Queen Bee, although other guesses also included Margot Robbie, Charli XCX and bandmate Nadine.

As far as clues are concerned, Queen Bee hinted that she first became famous as a child before going on to have a career in the public eye as a grown-up.

Nicola famously found fame as a contestant on Popstars: The Rivals, winning the competition as part of Girls Aloud alongside Cheryl, Nadine, Kimberley and Sarah.

The references to her being a ‘wild card’ allude to the pact that the Liverpudlian got through to the live stages of the reality competition on a technicality after another contestant dropped out.

Queen Bee also previously told users that she marched to the beat of her own drum – a clear (and now obvious) reference to Nicola’s debut solo single Beat Of My Drum, which was produced by Diplo and released in 2011.

Hints that she was a ‘lawmaker not a rule breaker’ now also make sense – the 34-year-old was instrumental in helping produce a bill in Parliament banning the use of tanning beds by anyone under the age of 18.

Did someone just say Girls Aloud reunion?
