Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband Kris Humphries insists their marriage was ‘100 per cent real’

Kris Humphries has hit out at critics of his brief marriage to Kim Kardashian, eight years after the pair split.

The basketball player, 34, insisted that his relationship with the reality star and their subsequent 72-day-long marriage was not “fake” in a candid piece for the Players’ Tribune.

Humphries, who dated Kardashian in 2010 before tying the knot in 2011 in a famously lavish ceremony, admitted that he was “naive” about the impact of dating a reality star.

Opening up in the essay, Humphries explained: “’Look, I should have known what I was getting into. I was definitely naive about how much my life was going to change.

“But the one thing that really bothers me is whenever people say that my marriage was fake. There’s definitely a lot about that world that is not entirely real. But our actual relationship was 100% real.”

Humphries added that he was left “embarrassed” after publicly divorcing the 38-year-old social media star.

He added: “It sucked. It’s never easy to go through the embarrassment of something like that with your friends, with your family but when it plays out so publicly, in front of the world, it’s a whole other level. It was brutal.”

He went on to add that he “never thought [he] was going to be famous in that way” and said that he is still hopeful he will be remembered for his basketball career instead of his high-profile marriage

Kardashian went on to marry rapper Kanye West in 2014 and has since welcomed three children, North, five, Saint, three, and Chicago, one, with the star. She is expecting a fourth via surrogate.

TMZ previously claimed that the couple are using a different gestational carrier to Chicago’s, who they welcomed last year via the same process, because the other had been unavailable.

Kardashian and West are yet to confirm a birth date for the new addition to their family.
