Kim Kardashian has opened up about trying to get pregnant again, revealing doctors refused to let her do IVF.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star shares four children with husband Kanye West – six-year-old North, Saint, 4, Chicago, 1, and seven-month-old Psalm – with her youngest two being welcomed via a surrogate.
And, in a candid video for her Skims Shapewear brand, the 39-year-old spoke about her difficult journey to motherhood, explaining that she was forced to undergo five different operations to fix the ‘damage’ pregnancy did to her body.
‘When I was pregnant with my daughter North, I had a condition called preeclampsia or toxemia, which is basically when the mum’s organs start to shut down,’ she began. ‘At 34 and a half weeks, I had to go into emergency labour — they induced me.
‘North was four pounds. She was almost six weeks early.’
After Kim gave birth, her placenta never came out, and began growing in her uterus, which can become a life-threatening condition.
She was able to get pregnant once more after freezing her eggs, but still had a painful delivery.
‘I had to have five different operations within a year and a half to fix the damage that all of that did on the inside,’ she continued. ‘But on the outside I was filming, and photoshoots…
‘I asked my doctors, “Can I do it one more time?” And they were like, “We won’t even put an embryo in you — that would be like malpractice”.’
Kim and Kanye then decided to extend their family through using two different surrogates, with Chicago born last January, and Psalm arriving earlier this year.
And, celebrating her little ones, the reality star insisted the pain was all worth it.
‘I’m so thankful for my beautiful kids. No matter how they came to me — they came to me,’ she added. ‘I would have gone through the same pain and back for the result of having my babies. It was all worth it.’
Kim’s clip comes after sister Kendall Jenner rated her parenting skills compared to her famous family – and it got pretty awkward.
The supermodel appeared on a Spill Your Guts segment with Harry Styles, where she had to neck 1000-year-old eggnog or rank the Kardashian-Jenner gang from best to worst parents.
Pretty savage.
And Kim, Kourtney and Kylie might want to have a word with Kenny, as they were on the lower end of the scale.
Hesitating, she began: ‘I mean, I’ll start by saying they actually are all amazing. They really are. I swear!
‘I’ll say Rob is number one – he’s so good to his daughter,’ Kendall started, before adding: ‘I mean, that’s so hard they are all so amazing.’
‘Then it would be like, Khloe, Kim, Kylie and Kourtney…
‘But they’re all amazing!’
We wouldn’t want to be Kendall in that family group chat…
