Kim Kardashian praises Kanye for introducing her to fashion as she wears eye mask at PCAs

Kim Kardashian heaped the praise on estranged husband Kanye West as she accepted the Fashion Icon award at the People’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica on Tuesday

Kim Kardashian once again made a fashion statement as she picked up the Fashion Icon award at this year’s People’s Choice Awards.

The 41-year-old reality TV star stunned onlookers at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, as she donned an eye mask while wearing all black to collect her gong.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star beamed on stage as she picked up the prestigious award and went on to thank her ex Kanye West for introducing her to the fashion world.

In her acceptance speech, Kim said: “Tracee, I am so honoured. I am honestly so humbled to be here. I mean, I started off as a closet organiser and a stylist. So the fact that I am winning a Fashion Icon Award, it’s like a pinch-me moment.”

She went on to say that winning the award was a “dream” after noting that there was once a time when designers wouldn’t work with her.

The SKIMS founder continued: “Thank you to Kanye for really introducing me to the fashion world. And I fell in love with fashion, and I’m so inspired by so many people.

“But again, this is like a dream that I get to wake up and wear these amazing clothes and just try new things, you know take a risk.”

She signed off saying: “I’m so humbled thank you so much.”

Kim’s choice of outfit for the awards appeared to be a toned down version of her Met Gala ensemble, which saw her wear an entire bodysuit, which included her face.

The creation featured a mask that wrapped around her head, a tight mini-dress, leggings, long gloves and pointed boots and was the idea of Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia.

This time out however, Kim donned an eye mask as she resembled a super hero in like a superhero. Her outfit was completed by a matching long-sleeve mini-dress, tights and pointed heels.

Her sister Khloe Kardashian and “momager” Kris Jenner were in attendance to witness Kim’s proud moment.

Elsewhere on stage, Christina Aguilera won the first ever Music Icon Award at the event.

She rocked a number of outfit changes, going from a black ruffled ballgown to a yellow-and-black flared pants look. Finally, she looked stunning in a draped chartreuse gown.

She received the accolade from from her Pa’ Mis Muchachas collaborator Becky G as the pair wore matching yellow outfits.

Becky G’s striking number showcased her stunning physique thanks to a lengthy slit down the side.

The red carpet of the event also saw other celebs show off a host of weird and wonderful designs.

Paris Jackson, the daughter of pop icon Michael Jackson, looked amazing in an outfit she labelled the “grunge fairy core” look.

With her tattoos on full show, the 23-year-old dazzled in an off-the-shoulder brown outfit which was perfectly cut to show off her toned legs in fishnet tights.

She accessorised her look with a beautiful pendant and chunky multi-coloured checked heels. She told red carpet host Laverne Cox that her fashion choice always “depends on what music I’m listening to”.
