Kim Kardashian has announced she will be freezing her Instagram and Facebook pages to ‘stop the spread of hate’.

Taking to her social media platforms, she revealed that she will be taking action against the ‘misinformation’ shared online that is ‘splitting America apart’.

The 39-year-old began: ‘I love that I can connect directly with you through Instagram and Facebook, but I can’t sit by and stay silent while these platforms continue to allow the spreading of hate, propaganda and misinformation – created by groups to sow division and split America apart – only to take steps after people are killed.

‘Misinformation shared on social media has a serious impact on our elections and undermines our democracy.

‘Please join me tomorrow when I will be “freezing” my Instagram and FB account to tell Facebook to #StopHateForProfit.’

The reality star is among the most followed celebrities on Instagram, boasting 188million fans on the platform, and a further 30million on Facebook.

Kim isn’t the only famous face supporting the campaign, with Mark Ruffalo and Katy Perry also taking part.

Her post comes after she hit back at the backlash surrounding her latest Skims launch.

The businesswoman made headlines after she unveiled her new solutionwear collection, aimed at expectant mums.

However, this was met with fury from some who suggested it could lead to pregnant women obsessing over their growing figures during their baby journey.

Issuing a lengthy statement, the mum-of-four put paid to criticism, explaining that the range had been misunderstood by many.

‘To anyone who has an issue with maternity solutionwear, and if you haven’t been pregnant before you may not know the struggle of what it’s like carrying all of this weight the way I did along with millions of strong women, @skims maternity line is not to slim but to support,’ she wrote.

‘The belly part doesn’t slim your belly, it’s actually sheer and a thinner layered material compared to the rest of the garment. It provides support to help with the uncomfortable weight being carried in your stomach which affects your lower back and the compression on the leggings helps with pain relief caused by swelling.

‘It is also worn after you have given birth and provides the comfort and support that most women need after delivery especially if you are recovering from a cesarean.’

Kim went on to reveal how Skims had been contacted by ‘tens of thousands of pregnant women’ requesting the maternity line, insisting that she ‘personally needed [it] when [she] was pregnant [herself]’.

The reality star added: ‘Based on the majority of positive feedback we have received so far from pregnant women around the world, I am incredibly proud to provide a solution that will provide comfort and support during the times that we all need it most, during pregnancy and after.’
