Kiefer Sutherland confirmed to star in The Fugitive TV show

Kiefer Sutherland will be ordering a search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse for Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) when a new TV series of The Fugitive hits forthcoming streaming service Quibi next year. The show will be a remake of the Harrison Ford movie from 1993, and not the 60s TV series.

Variety confirms that Sutherland will star as “legendary Detective” Clay Bryce, who will be out to apprehend Holbrook’s Mike Ferro. The actor has been looking for new projects after the second cancellation of his pricey political series Designated Survivor, which Netflix finally put to rest earlier this year. Stephen Hopkins (24) will direct and produce.

This is the second old Harrison Ford movie to have been gifted a new TV show this week, with Justin Theroux leading a new take on The Mosquito Coast, which is based on his uncle’s original cult novel.

This version of The Fugitive will have a more modern spin. Per the series’ logline:

“When a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on, blue-collar Mike Ferro (Holbrook) just wants to make sure his wife, Allison, and 10-year-old daughter, Pearl, are safe. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet-now, confirm-later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act. Wrongfully—and very publicly—accused, Mike must prove his innocence by uncovering the real perpetrator, before the legendary cop (Sutherland) heading the investigation can apprehend him.”

The Quibi streaming service is set to launch in April 2020, and each episode of the series it’s setting up are only supposed to be about 7-15 minutes long, so if you’ve got a short attention span or very little spare time, Quibi is hoping you’ll enjoy its wares.
