Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has urged others to self-isolate after confirming he has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Nets announced on Tuesday that four unnamed players had tested positive for COVID-19. The organisation decided to press ahead with testing after one player had showed symptoms of the virus and they enlisted the help of a private company to take care of the testing.

The other three players were asymptomatic but Durant has confirmed that he was part of that group.

The former Golden State Warriors star insists he’s feeling ‘fine’ but urged the public to quarantine just to be safe.

‘Everyone be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine,’ Durant told the Athletic.
‘We’re going to get through this.’

Durant hasn’t played this season due to an Achilles injury but, despite the NBA season being pushed back, the 31-year-old doesn’t have plans to make the most of a bad situation but making a return.

The two-time NBA champion becomes the seventh basketball player to test positive for the virus.

Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz center, was slammed after he tested positive just 48 hours after mocking a perceived overreaction to the virus.

The Frenchman made sure to touch all microphones at the end of a press conference and the NBA season was postponed after the Jazz confirmed last Wednesday that he had transmitted the disease.

Gobert’s team-mate, Donovan Mitchell, has since tested positive while Christian Wood of the Detriot Pistons is another confirmed case.

The league plans to re-open in mid-June but they are analysing events day-to-day.
