Kevin Clifton and Debbie McGee crowned Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special winners


Strictly Come Dancing fans were left “thrilled” after Debbie McGee and Kevin Clifton were crowned the winners of the Christmas special tonight.

Debbie, who is the widow of magician Paul Daniels, won with her professional dance partner after they scored a perfect 40 for their performance.

The 61-year-old left fans “beaming with happiness” after she was crowned the winner, with many saying it was “well deserved”.

“I wasn’t expecting it!” she said. “It’s just amazing but you know, everybody has been fantastic.


“I think it’s everybody’s because we all had a great time, everyone did such great dances.”

Debbie was up against fellow former contestants which include YouTuber Joe Sugg, Chizzy Akudolu, Gemma Atkinson, Mark Wright and Richard Arnold.

The festive-themed show was hosted by Strictly babes Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The show’s judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli and Shirley Ballas all took to the panel.

In typical Strictly style, the show opened with a group performance featuring the show’s team of professional dancers and the Christmas cast.

Each couple then took to the floor to try and wow the judges with their performances, while also the studio audience voted for their favourite.

The audience’s votes and the judges were then combined to crown Debbie and Kevin as this year’s winners.

Debbie earned her votes with a fabulous routine to Jingle Bells by Michael Buble.

Fans rushed to Twitter after the winner was announced, one wrote: “I’m thrilled! Well deserved Debbie and Kevin.”

Another tweeted: “So happy with the Strictly win. Go on, Debbie!”
