After famously getting denied by Jerry Seinfeld three times for a hug on a red carpet in 2017, Kesha finally understands his rejection. 

On Wednesday, the 33-year-old Tik Tok hitmaker hilariously posted a meme of herself and the comedian, 65, on Instagram from their cringeworthy encounter at the David Lynch Foundation’s National Night of Laughter and Song. 

‘Now I get it,’ she wrote across a GIF from the infamous hug denial.

While the video of his snub immediately went viral nearly three years ago, her understanding comes amid the coronavirus pandemic, which is highly contagious.

As the global outbreak has spread to more than 190 countries and territories, people are being urged to place distance between themselves to prevent the spread of Covid-19. 

Following the mortifying moment, Seinfeld told Extra he was not a huge fan of hugs, particularly from somebody he had never met.

‘I was right in the middle of an interview, it was a little off,’ he explained of his choice. 

In the video, the Praying songstress tells him she’s a huge fan and asks for a hug, to which he says, ‘No, thanks.’

Instead of walking away, she steps forward and says, ‘Please?’

After she asks for a third time, just for ‘a little one,’ Seinfeld backs from away and they both just laugh awkwardly. 

On her final attempt, she quickly ran off in embarrassment. 

Seinfeld, then, tells the reporter, ‘I don’t know who that was.’

When reflecting about the moment, he told the outlet, ‘In my reality… I don’t hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone, say hello. I gotta start somewhere. Hug isn’t the first moment of a human, two humans. I never did that.’

He confirmed this was not their final encounter that evening and she was very understanding of his decision.

While some may be scarred from that high-profile dismissal, on Tuesday night Kesha teased her new track with a special shoutout to her other ‘idol’ Nicolas Cage. 

In the clip, she can heard singing over various clips of dozens of clips from Cage‘s filmography. 

She even repeatedly drops his name, singing, ‘You think I’m extra, I’m on some Nicolas Cage sh*t /Nicolas Cage sh*t/ Nowww freak out!’

The pair met earlier this year on the red carpet for his film Color Out of Space, and she shared a video of him happily embracing on Instagram. 

At the event, the pair even posed for pictures together. 

‘Kesha is a great lady, and we had a lot of fun,’ Cage told USA Today. I’ve always admired Kesha for the music, she’s incredibly talented. I was happy to meet her, and she was interested in the movie. So it was a nice time.’
