Kenny Dalglish to present Liverpool title medals as Jurgen Klopp demands personal touch

Leaked pictures on social media on Tuesday night suggested that the Liverpool squad will lift the Premier League title on a special podium on the Kop after the final whistle against Chelsea, rather than on the pitch.

And it has since been confirmed by the English champions that they will do so in an attempt to “acknowledge and celebrate Liverpool fans”.

A statement added: “The Reds squad, led by captain Jordan Henderson – who will lift the trophy at Anfield – have been involved in the planning for the much-anticipated ceremony.

“The clash with Chelsea, and the subsequent trophy presentation, will be broadcast free-to-air by Sky on its Pick channel in the UK, to ensure supporters can watch from home.

“LFC and the Premier League are asking fans to stay at home to enjoy the ceremony, and not travel to Anfield next Wednesday evening.”

And Klopp is also eager for the club to hold a title parade later this year, with this being Liverpool’s first title triumph in 30 years.

After Liverpool won the Champions League a year ago, around 750,000 fans turned out on to the streets to celebrate as the team paraded the European Cup around the city.
