Kendrick Lamar could be set to take the charts by storm with fans convinced the acclaimed rapper will release his new album tomorrow.

The Swimming Pools rapper appears to have made subtle changes to his social media overnight, sparking speculation that his first album since 2017 will drop on Friday.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Kendrick’s Spotify profile picture has been changed in some countries for the first time in four years. However, some have reported the image mysteriously reverting back to the original picture.

As if that wasn’t enough to stoke the flames, snippets of no less than six of the rapper’s unreleased songs leaked online.

One track titled Therapy Session #9 received glowing reviews from listeners, with one stating confidently: ‘Kendrick is dropping the album of the year the f**k is that fire snippet !! F**k it he dropping a classic again.’

If Kendrick does release his new record tomorrow, it will coincidentally – or intentionally – fall on the ninth anniversary of his iconic breakout album good kid, m.A.A.d city, which featured memorable songs such as Swimming Pools, B***h, Don’t Kill My Vibe and Poetic Justice.

The 34-year-old rapper certainly has reason to drop new music at this point – he’ll be performing at the Day N Vegas Festival in just three weeks and is also set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in February alongside Dr Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Mary J Blige.

Kendrick’s last album, 2017’s Damn, was a roaring success with the record reaching number one in both the US and UK, while earning the rapper the best rap album Grammy, and three other awards for the album’s catchy single Humble.

There’s also the possibility that Kendrick will jet over to the UK to headline Glastonbury 2022.

The All The Stars rapper was announced as a headliner for the music festival in 2020, but that was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic. Billie Eilish is the only headliner confirmed for next summer’s event and it remains to be seen if Kendrick will join her.
