Kelly Clarkson has shared a hilariously awkward moment she had to endure at the ACM Awards after she was mistaken for a ‘seat-filler’.

The 36-year-old singer was at the 54th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards on Sunday night when she was asked to move seats.

Although she performed twice at the annual event, the Grammy winner, was still not recognised by a clueless member of staff.

Taking to Twitter, the American Idol winner recalled the funny incident and proved she knows how to not take certain mishaps too seriously.

On 8 April, she wrote: ‘The greatest thing by far that happened to me tonight was being asked to move because some guy thought I was a seat-filler at the ACM’s tonight…#CantWinEmAll [sic]’.

However, the Stronger hitmaker politely refused to move her bottom from her rightful chair and didn’t let the moment ruin her day. In fact, she insisted that the error was the best part of the evening.

‘Literally, it made my night because he was so serious, and I just politely said no hahaha!!’

Of course, her followers had her back as they flooded her Twitter page with some sassy commentary.

‘Do they live under a rock?’ asked one of her followers.

Another fan made this suggestion: ‘You should have said: “Sorry sir I can’t I’m filling this seat for Kelly Clarkson, she should be here any minute.”’

‘Omg THIS story made MY night!! I love that you found it to be funny!! You’re so down to earth,’ approved a social media user.

However, other fans were less than impressed, with one sharing: ‘Kelly I’m literally stunned! Seriously girl he should have been fired on the spot.

‘If I’d been anywhere near you I would have stood up, said idiot I’m the seat filler, and you just told Grammy-winning artist Kelly Clarkson to move out of her seat!’

Elsewhere, a protective fan simply said: ‘RUDE!’

At least Kelly found it funny?

Kelly gave two incredible performances during the show – joining Dan + Shay to sing, Keeping Score, and taking to the stage for a duet with Jason Alden to sing their 2010 winning hit, Don’t You Wanna To Stay.

The singer is also currently back on The Voice USA as a coach for season 16 and in the middle of writing a book and about to launch her talk show.

We are just going to assume that the member of staff does not own TV … or the internet.
