Keke Palmer stands by THAT woeful Met Gala salad snap after chef came to menu's defense

She published a viral Instagram Story post poking fun at a lack luster meal served during Monday’s star-studded Met Gala, which cost $35,000 a ticket to attend.

And Keke Palmer took to Twitter to double down on her dissatisfaction after head chef Marcus Samuelsson, who curated the night’s menu, came to the food’s defense earlier this week.

‘I just have different taste buds!’ wrote the 28-year-old actress in response to a supportive fan who shared an article featuring Samuelsson’s rebuttal.

Always one to kill with kindness, Keke finished off her tweet by sending ‘love’ to Marcus and the other 10 chefs he chose to bring the Met Gala’s menu to life.

‘I love this Chef, sorry to this man,’ concluded the True Jackson VIP star.

Palmer, who hosted Vogue’s Met Gala livestream with comedian Ilana Glazer, set social media into a frenzy by uploading a snapshot of a sad looking salad she was served during the event.

‘This why they don’t show y’all the food, I’m just playinnnn,’ she playfully captioned the post, which was shared with her over 10million Instagram followers on Monday night.

The food drew comparison to the meals served at another, in that case infamous luxury event, with one fan tweeting at Palmer, ‘They feeding y’all like it’s Fyre Festival.’

With social media running wild with the viral snap, head chef Samuelsson felt compelled to defend the integrity of the menu made by 10 top New York chefs that he personally selected.

Samuelsson, who is the head chef behind the Red Rooster in Harlem, told TMZ that Keke’s entree was just one of many entrees served during the soiree, while clarifying that it was not a salad but rather ‘barley topped with roasted mushrooms, tomato salad with corn and zucchini slices.’

Palmer’s viral snap appeared to show the remains of the meal made by Aquavit chef Emma Bengtsson and Junghyun Park, who runs ATOBOY NYC.

Samuelsson also stressed to the outlet that ‘food, like anything, is a matter of taste, and it tasted plenty good.’

‘I couldn’t have been more proud of the #MetGalaChefs who created a delicious and memorable meal for all the guests,’ he wrote on Instagram.

On social media, the Michelin star chef thanked the culinary artists he recruited for the collaboration, which included Fariyal Abdullahi, Nasim Alikhani, Emma Bengtsson, Lazarus Lynch, Junghyun Park, Erik Ramirez, Thomas Raquel, Sophia Roe, Simone Tong, and Fabian von Hauske.

Before that, the gala guests enjoyed a fresh salad, and dessert was an apple mousse and apple confit with a calvados glaze, served in the shape of an apple.

Canapes at the event included collard greens hot chowder served on coconut buttermilk cornbread, black rice porcini arancini with pumpkin Calabrian chili sauce, as well as watermelon tart with smoked yuzu soy on a panipuri cracker.

The dinner was served on hand-painted plates from Tory Burch’s Oiseau collection, and guests’ names written on autumnal leaves rather than traditional paper place settings in one of the gala’s many moves to be more sustainable.

The Gala had returned this year after being cancelled in 2020 amid the pandemic.

This year it was pushed to September from its traditional slot on the first Sunday in May.
