Keke Palmer is ‘so happy’ to join Michael Strahan and Sara Haines for third hour of ‘GMA’

The third hour of “Good Morning America” has gotten a makeover.

Actress-singer Keke Palmer will join Michael Strahan and Sara Haines as a host of what will now be named “Strahan, Sara & Keke,” formerly called “Strahan & Sara.”

The news was revealed on Monday’s program, which also happened to be Palmer’s 26th birthday.

Haines said they’d been looking for “the perfect gift” for the “Hustlers” cast member, sharing that she was a big help when Haines welcomed her third child in June.

“Keke was so great. She came in this summer, when I was on maternity leave and Michael was doing Michael. We love Keke because she stepped up to the plate and joined our family and carried the ball,” she said, referring to Strahan, formerly of the New York Giants. “We thought we’d do something really special for you.”

After Palmer pushed a button, a screen displaying the show’s name changed to “Strahan, Sara & Keke.” Golden confetti and balloons showered the set and Haines introduced Palmer as the new co-host to the audience.

“We appreciate you. We love you,” Strahan said. “This is just not a gift for us, this is a gift for America.”

Palmer, who previously hosted a talk show for BET, said Monday’s news made her “so happy.”

“You guys have always embraced me,” she said. “Since I first came on, just being a guest.”
