Katya Jones: Strictly pro opens up in social media return after supporting Neil Jones' mum

Katya Jones, 30, has spoken out about how she is coping during the coronavirus pandemic in a candid Instagram video. The Strictly Come Dancing professional gave her 163,000 followers an update earlier today after being “quiet” on social media.

Katya revealed she has been feeling “up and down” recently in the post.

The star’s absence from the picture sharing platform comes after she offered some words of support to her ex-husband Neil Jones’, 37, mum Helen Jones following the death of his uncle Johnny.

The dancer described her former mother-in-law as the “most wonderful, selfless woman” while responding to Neil’s Instagram post dedicated to his mum for Mother’s Day.

Neil captioned the photo: “Happy Mother’s Day. I know today will be hard for you and I’m sending all my love.

“You have made me the person I am today and I don’t know many people who could single handedly raise four kids, this shows how strong you really. Love ya mum #mothersday #family.”

Katya replied: “The most wonderful, selfless woman I have ever met. She spreads love, kindness and light wherever she goes. Love you endlessly @helenjones6944.”

Following her heartfelt message to Helen in response to her and Neil’s loss, the Ballroom and Latin pro told fans she has been “digesting this whole information and situation”.

She began her post by saying: “Hello everybody it’s nice talking to you.

“And when you think about the extent of it and how long it’s going to be and me being by myself and how it’s going to be sometimes has had an affect on me.”

Fortunately, Katya explained her friends and Strictly co-stars have been inspiring her to keep going with their dance tutorial videos they have been providing for fans on social media.

She added: “But thanks to all of my friends Oti [Mabuse], Karen [Hauer], Janette [Manrara], Joanne and Sasha, I’ve been joining their live streams, but wasn’t doing them myself and their energy and the wonderful things they’re doing has given me motivation.

“And so I’m definitely going to be doing some things and reconnecting with people.
