Katy Perry had some trouble getting about in her Met Gala 2019 burger costume, after the singer changed from a chandelier to the delicious treat last night.
Not content with being old mate Lumiere at the after party, she wanted to show off her love of the cuisine by changing into a ‘lettuce’ dress and wrapping a big, round sphere of burger around her.
But turns out that thing was more trouble that it was worth, and evidently not dance floor appropriate.
According to reports, Katy was left rolling around on the floor after she fell flat on her backside during the after party on Monday night in New York City.
The hitmaker put a lot of thought and effort into her costume for the post-Gala bash held by Gucci at Hunter College in New York City as she rocked up looking like a juicy burger – complete with all the salad trimmings and tooth pick.
Things took a turn for the tasty though as she was left red faced when the weight of her outfit caused her to topple over mid-jive.
An source told New York Post: ‘It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Katy was dancing, then she just toppled over.
‘Once she was on the floor, she couldn’t get up because her arms were inside the burger costume, she rolled around for a bit, but she was stuck. So others nearby went over and literally picked her up and put her back on her feet.’
In a video she was seen awkwardly trying to get to her feet but we can’t help but imagine this is Katy Perry and it was most likely all part of the act.
She’s such a comedian.
A friend said: ‘And she’s back up! That was part of her performance art.’
As some doubled down on the camp – a riff on this year’s theme, Camp: Notes On Fashion – for their fresh looks, singer Katy got changed into the costume after wowing the Met steps.
For the formal event earlier in the night the singer rocked an actual chandelier as she showed us how dressing like inanimate objects was her thing this year.
Katy wore the Jeremy Scott for Moschino classic on the Met’s steps as she turned the wonder up to 11 for another spin on the Gala’s red carpet.
