Since we are well and truly in the middle of Christmas party mayhem and starting to get a bit fed up of glittery makeup (sorry, but it’s true), we thought we would share some holiday beauty inspiration courtesy of Katy Perry.
The singer is, after all, the hero of going all out and she’s done it once again for her latest music video, Cozy Little Christmas, transporting us to the North Pole with some seriously extra festive beauty that is anything but under-the-radar.
Yes, Perry’s new song is bouncy and sweet but it’s really her beauty look in the video that is the fairy on top of the tree – and the man behind it is celebrity makeup artists Anthony Nguyen.
First up is the candy cane-inspired eyeliner which Ngyyen told Allure was created by painting red and white stripes on Perry’s lids, applying thick winged liner in a look he called “frostbitten blush and candy cane striped liner” which was finished with a pair of bold false lashes, faux freckles and a classic red lip.
The second, “icy eyes” look was also just as bold: Perry’s eyes were bedazzled in actual rhinestones, a sort of Narnia-meets-Frozen ice queen vibe, with the three-dimensional crystals starting at her lid and working up to her temples.
It wasn’t just the eyes giving us some party ideas, Perry’s hair in the video was just as aspirational with hairstylist Iggy Rosales responsible for this wow-factor creation which is essentially a Christmas tree updo’ decked out in baubles and tinsel, finished with some matching green eyeliner and bauble earrings.
