Katy Perry admits she was suicidal following 2017 split from Orlando Bloom


Katy Perry has bravely told how she considered taking her own life following her 2017 split from her now- fiancé Orlando Bloom.

The singer, is expecting her first child with the actor, admitted she was left feeling “broken in half” following her temporary break-up and poor album sales.

In a new interview, the pregnant Fireworks singer, 35, revealed she had “crashed” at rock bottom due to her album’s chart failure.

Speaking to radio station SiriusXM CBC, she said: “My career was on this trajectory when it was going up, up and up and then I had the smallest shift, not that huge from an outside perspective. But for me it was seismic.

“I had given so much out, and it literally broke me in half.

“I had broken up with my boyfriend, who is now my baby daddy-to-be and then I was excited about flying high off the next record. But the validation did not make me high, and so I just crashed.”

The couple have been preparing to welcome their first child together in the summer; Orlando already has a son Flynn with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

They have plans to get married in Japan which have temporarily been put on hold because of the  coronavirus  pandemic sweeping the globe.

Katy shared her heartache with the world as she and added that she believes “gratitude” saved her life.

She said: “Gratitude is probably the thing that saved my life, because if I did not find that I would have wallowed in my own sadness and probably just jumped.”

Previously, Katy has spoken out about her mental health struggles.

The singer documented how depression left her not wanting to get out of bed in the toughest years of her life in 2017 and 2018.

She told Vogue India  in January: “I became depressed and I did not want to get out of bed.

“In the past, I had been able to overcome it, but this time something happened that made me fall down too many flights of stairs. I had to really go on a mental health journey.”
