Katie Price has revealed her son Harvey is learning independence skills at residential college, including how to do his own laundry.

The former glamour model, 43, took to Instagram to share a photo of Harvey, 19, hanging out his own laundry on a drying rack as he learned new skills to live a more independent life.

She captioned the snap: ‘Harvey learning his independent skills.’

Harvey, who was born with complex disabilities including Prader-Willi syndrome and septo-optic dysplasia as well as autism, recently moved to the residential college in Cheltenham.

Katie had charted the journey to finding the perfect residential college for her son in their documentary, Harvey and Me.

The pair had toured several specialist colleges to see which one would be the right one to cater for Harvey’s needs and where he would feel comfortable.

Although the college is further away from Katie’s home than she would have hoped, she was keen for him to build more skills to live a more independent life.

She revealed during an interview on Studio 10 in Australia: ‘It’s not because I don’t want to see him, but I have to give him a chance to have an independent life and not let him lead me all the time.’

In an extract of her new book Harvey and Me, obtained by Mirror, Katie also shared: ‘Now he’s there, I can imagine it could be so easy to say, “I don’t need to see him.” But I don’t want that to ever happen. I’ve been responsible for him all his life, and now it feels weird to have this freedom.

‘I’m like, “It’s 2pm, I need to give him his medication.” And then I think, “Oh, Harvey isn’t here.” It’s a strange feeling and it’s going to take some getting used to.

‘But if something dramatic happens in my life, and let’s be honest, that’s a common occurrence, at least I don’t have to be thinking, “Who’s going to look after Harvey?” It’s a massive weight off my shoulders.

‘I feel like now, for the first time, I can breathe. And even though I do, I shouldn’t feel guilty for that.’
