Katie Price has hit out at cruel trolls for mocking son Harvey, branding the abuse ‘shocking’.
The 17-year-old is partially blind, autistic and has Prader-Willi syndrome, which causes weight gain and slow development – which has made him a target for vile trolls online.
During an appearance on Channel 5 News, Katie revealed that her eldest child is now an ambassador for autism charity Anna Kennedy Online.
And, making the announcement, the 41-year-old hit out at the ‘shocking’ abuse he receives on social media,
‘It’s just so shocking what do you do, what do you do? Harvey’s sitting there now just innocent, getting his hair done, he wouldn’t harm a fly,’ the mum-of-five told the camera.
‘I think it’s good that he’s in public eye because there’s so many people out there who are scared, they don’t know how to cope or they don’t go out because they think people might look at them.
‘Why should Harvey be hidden away?
‘Everyone loves him, he’s got such a following. Just because of his disabilities why should he be treated any different?’
Speaking to Harvey about his new role, she added that it ‘means you’re going to help other people like Harvey and protect them from people being horrible’.
Katie has previously opened up about her relationship with the teenager, whom she shares with ex Dwight Yorke.
The footballer has never played a role in his life, but Katie is hoping to one day forge a bond between the pair.
In a video shared on her YouTube channel, she said: ‘What I would like to do is turn up to his dad’s place – Dwight Yorke’s – ring on the doorbell and be there with Harvey, for him to see Harvey.
‘That’s what I would like to do and I will do that. I think Dwight should start entering Harvey’s life, it’s been years. How long has it been? Harvey was four when he last saw him.
‘I would love Dwight to come into contact with Harvey, and just stand there, how can you not want to know Harv? He’s so funny.’
Katie had split with Dwight by the time she welcomed Harvey, back in May, 2002.
The former Manchester United star initially denied he was the youngster’s dad, forcing the I’m A Celebrity star to undergo DNA tests to confirm he was in fact the father.
