Katie Piper has revealed which star she wants to play her in a movie about her life, which is edging closer to becoming a reality.

After Hollywood snapped up the rights to Katie’s memoir, Beautiful, four years ago, the star, 37, has spent hours in talks about bringing her inspiring story to the silver screen.

As the script comes together and Katie works closely with the screenwriter, she has no doubts about wanting Reese Witherspoon to tell her story.

‘These productions can sometimes take years, especially in a Covid-19 world, but it is happening and I can’t wait. I would love Reese Witherspoon to play me. She would be perfect,’ she told the Mirror.

Katie is excited to see the project come to life following lengthy Zoom calls, however, there’s some heavy research involved to ensure the script is 100% accurate.

She admitted: ‘It’s difficult. I mean I underestimated how much it takes.

‘I’ve had to go through lots of old records and transcripts from the past, to get sort of factual accuracy.’

As a woman who has inspired people across the globe with her courage and strength, Katie wants the movie to show her story in a different light.

She shared: ‘Obviously my story does involve violence against women but I think it could be very empowering for a female audience.’

The TV star wants to utilise the opportunity to address other issues ‘in this new culture, this Me Too culture, the Time’s Up culture.’

Katie’s autobiography details her 2008 acid attack and how she has been able to heal and shape a successful career, with jobs including becoming a Loose Women panellist, competing on Strictly Come Dancing and penning multiple books.

She had the right to remain anonymous following her sexual assault but chose to waive her anonymity to increase public awareness of the situation for burn victims and offer reassurance for others.

Katie is now on her way to becoming one of the most sought-after stars in showbiz, but her biggest accomplishment always remains the same – feeling ‘euphoric’ after setting up a burns rehabilitation centre near St Helens in Merseyside two years ago.

The centre has experienced a drought in donations during the pandemic, which the author feels ‘stressed’ talking about.

Trustees are finding ways to overcome their financial challenges as demand for her rehab centre reaches an all-time high.
