Katie Holmes has been famous for over 20 years but still knows how to treat fans with respect.

The Dawson’s Creek star looked delighted to meet one of her biggest admirers in New York City on Friday as one overexcited fan spotted the actress and chose to wrap her arms around Katie in a big bear hug.

The actress was pictured in Times Square when she had the interaction and despite the clear shock as the fan grabbed Katie from the side, mum to 13-year-old Suri looked perfectly happy to warmly hug her back before continuing on with her day.

Katie’s outing comes after it was recently reported she has split from fellow actor Jamie Foxx earlier this year.

The pair made their first red carpet appearance together at the Met Gala in May. However, according to E!, they split weeks later.

News of the rumoured split broke after Jamie, 51, was spotted out and about in LA with model and singer Sela Vave last month.

However, Jamie later denied any romantic involvement with Sela.

The star was married to action star Tom Cruise from 2006 to 2012.

It has been claimed that Katie and Jamie kept their six-year relationship under wraps due to a clause in Katie’s divorce from Cruise which banned her from publicly dating for five years.

Her other famous exes include fellow Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson and American Pie actor Chris Klein.
