Kate Wright in wedding nightmare as dream dress ‘went wrong’ a week before big day

Kate Wright and Rio Ferdinand officially became man and wife on Friday when they tied the knot in Turkey.

But the day was nearly a disaster, as Kate was almost left without a wedding dress.

On the scale of wedding nightmares, that’s probably only second to getting jilted.

Kate, 28, started getting her dream dress made in January, but it ‘all went wrong and it just wasn’t made right’.

The former Towie star told OK! magazine: ‘A week before we flew to Turkey, I still didn’t have a dress. It was a total nightmare and I was stressed!

‘I had to have an entire new dress made by The Wedding Club and fitted within a week.’

However, the world works in mysterious ways, as Kate ended up finding her dream dress in the last minute ivory fishtail Berta gown she walked down the aisle in.

She said: ‘In the end I adored my dress and preferred it to the original. Some things are meant to be.’

Kate and Rio, 40, married at the D Maris Bay hotel in Marmaris, with rooms costing £4,000 a night.

It is believed guests had their phones taken away from them to avoid pictures of the wedding leaking, with the wedding party enjoying a three day celebration concluding with a massive pool party.

And it was a totes emosh day, as football pundit Rio admitted he cried as he saw his sons Lorenz, 13, and Tate, 11, walk his bride down the aisle.

Tate, Lorenz and Tia, eight, are Rio’s children with late wife Rebecca Ellison, who died after a breast cancer battle in 2015.

Kate previously revealed she had given up reality TV to focus on Rio and his kids, saying: ‘I had two choices. I’m in this world with lots of drama and then I met Rio and the children and, I thought, “I’m with these kids, who have lost their mum, they don’t need a woman who is out all the time. They need someone at home with them.”‘

Kate and Rio’s full interview can be read in OK! magazine, out tomorrow.
