ONE of Prince Louis’ first words was “Mary” — thanks to mum Kate’s love of Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry.
Kate, 37, said the 20-month-old uttered the name after spotting her cookbooks on their kitchen shelf.
The Duchess tells Mary about it when she appears on TV special a Berry Merry Christmas, showing on BBC One on Monday night.
Kate says: “One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’, because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf.
“And children are really fascinated by faces, and your face is all over your cooking books and he would say ‘That’s Mary Berry’.
“So he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”
The show sees Mary, 84, join Kate and hubby Prince William, 37, on four visits to different UK charities.
It ends with a party hosted by the couple and with a menu designed by Mary for charity staff working to support others at Christmas.
Opening up about the visits, Mary said: “They don’t just arrive and shake a few hands make a few smiles and a speech, they want to get involved, and they want to see what they can do.
“And it isn’t just one visit, they come back again and ask for the results and they remember who they spoke to last time.
“I think that’s remarkable.”
