Kate Middleton opts for go-to designer Alexander McQueen at Royal Variety Performance

The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Royal Variety Performance in London on Monday evening wearing a bespoke gown by her favourite designer, Alexander McQueen.

The luxury fashion house is one of Kate Middleton’s favourites and a go-to for her at important public events.

McQueen’s Creative Director, Sarah Burton, took the helm of the brand upon its founders death in 2010 and, under her direction, sales and popularity have soared.

Burton designed both of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dresses for her nuptials to Prince William and she was last seen wearing the brand on Remembrance Day.

The duchess paired the full length, black lace gown with a simple black clutch bag and black heels to match. Adding to the drama of the dress, Kate wore a pair of Erdem hoop earrings and had her hair styled into her signature bouncy blow-dry.

The first time Kate attended the Royal Variety performance, back in 2014, she similarly opted for a black lace gown, but by American designer Diane von Furstenberg.

The annual Royal Variety Performance is in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, of which the Queen is Patron.
