Kate Middleton: Duchess of Cambridge has a very personal connection to this airline

The Duchess of Cambridge is no stranger to jetting off around the world, with travelling being a huge part of the work she does alongside Prince William to represent the UK on a global level. However, it seems the young Kate Middleton started travelling long before she met the prince.

In fact, she has a very personal connection to one airline in particular.

The duchess spent many years flying with British Airways when she was younger because both her mother and father had careers with the flag-bearing airline.

Her mother, Carole Middleton, worked as a flight attendant for British Airways.

It was during this career that she met Michael Middleton, who was working as a flight dispatcher at the time.

The couple went on to marry in June of 1980 before having their three children, Catherine, in 1982, Pippa in 1984 and James in 1987.

Though the family often travel in private planes, with their personal royal plane widely utilised by all members, they also have been known to charter entire British Airways flights or even sneak on board and travel alongside other passengers.

In 2016 Kate Middleton opted to fly with British Airways on her first solo tour to Canada.

However, she is not the only royal who has been spotted on board in recent years.

Just this year Prince Harry travelled with British Airways from London’s Heathrow Airport to Vancouver, Canada.

Information about the terminal was revealed in a Channel 5 documentary titled ‘Secrets of the Royal Flight’.

According to the documentary the private lounge is located behind in a hidden door somewhere in Terminal Five.

Footage filmed by documentary makers shows pristine polished floors and a glass roof said to be constructed from “bombproof glass” where the Royal Family can relax before take-off.

It is from here that the royals jet off on most of their international ventures, whether that is on board the Queen’s private royal plane, or chartering entire flights for themselves and their entourage.

According to The Sun’s Royal Commentator Emily Andrews: “It’s basically like a posh hotel lounge, where they just turn about 40 minutes to an hour before if that.”
