Kate Garraway wraps up warm as she steps out after breaking down in tears on GMB

Kate Garraway has been spotted wrapped up warm while heading out in London after breaking down on Good Morning Britain this morning.

The 53-year-old television presenter, who has been trying to remain positive while her husband Derek Draper remains in hospital after contracting Covid-19 in March, was seen lugging a suitcase through central London today.

It came after she filled in for Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Monday’s episode of GMB.

The telly star donned a bright pink coat and leopard print scarf while attempting to stave off the chilly autumnal weather.

She put safety first, wearing a blue mask, flung a large light tan leather handbag over one shoulder and dragged a small suitcase behind her as she walked down the street on her phone.

Her freshly-blow-dried hair had been pushed back out of her face, and she made sure comfort was her first priority as she slipped out of her heels and into a pair of trainers and flared jeans.

Kate’s outing came just hours after she was seen in tears today live on GMB after watching the touching moment a little seven-year-old boy suffering from a rare form of cancer reunited with his family.

Zeke Puig, who suffers from a rare combination of life-threatening cancers, has been separated from his family for 75 days because he had to isolate.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Zeke has undergone two bone marrow transplants after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and advanced myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) last year.

He has only been able to be with mum Danielle while undergoing the intensive treatment, but she managed to film the moment he was reunited with the rest of his siblings.

Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh shared the clip on the programme today.

After watching the clip, Kate seemed emotional as she said: “We can’t really speak about it, um… they’re just screaming in delight.

“I guess these are all the people we’re tolerating restrictions for, isn’t it? When you see that family has had to go through that, what it meant to be apart, it does make it easier to cope with some of the restrictions, doesn’t it?”

While Kate’s husband Derek has woken up from his coma after contracting coronavirus earlier this year, he has not yet been able to return home.

Last week, she explained : “There are big ups and big downs, not big ups really, small improvements and worrying downs as well.

“But the last few days have been pretty stable, so keeping everything crossed really.”
