Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway revealed that her family is taking every day as it comes in regards to her husband Derek’s recovery.
The presenter was speaking candidly to musician Sharleen Spiteri who opened up the conversation about Derek on Friday morning’s show.
Sharleen said: “Kate, I have to say, you’re bloody amazing, how is your husband?”
To which Katie responded: “We’re keeping on and keeping on, it sounds like a cliche but it is one day at a time
“He is still here and here are we are, so I am very lucky.”
This comes a few days after Kate revealed that she got her “happy ending” while updating her fans on Derek Draper’s recovery.

Speaking to Piers Morgan’s wife Celia Waldren for the Telegraph, Kate, who is a regular GMB anchor, opened up about how Derek is progressing with his healing.
Kate spoke candidly to Celia in this week’s Telegraph Stella magazine, telling the journalist that she’s got her happy ending, because Derek is home.
Celia remaked to Kate that she would get her happy ending soon, but Kate sounded surprised by the remarks.

She concluded the interview by simply saying: “Oh I’ve got my happy ending. I’ve got Derek home.”
She explained that her husband’s recovery is still ongoing, before providing fans with some positive news as she explained there are moments of hope.
Despite Derek’s ongoing battle with the after effects of contracting a severe case of Covid-19, Kate admitted that she loves her husband even more than before, because she feel like she understands him so much.

Kate’s husband Derek first contracted Covid-19 at the start of the pandemic back in March 2020.
He spent 12 months in hospital after contracting the virus, and Kate revealed earlier on in the year that as a result, he was left emaciated and immobile.
Derek is now home from the hospital with Kate and their two children, Billy and Darcey.
