Kate Garraway revealed fears for her family following the coronavirus outbreak – just weeks before her husband Derek Draper was rushed to intensive care with symptoms.

It was announced on Friday that the 52-year-old has been hospitalised after contracting the condition.

And the Good Morning Britain star recently spoke about her worries for those closest to her amid the pandemic.

In a candid chat, the 52-year-old said: ‘I don’t want to tempt fate, but so far, I’m good.

‘It’s loved ones that you can’t help but worry for.

‘My dad is nearly 85 and my mum is in her late 70s.’

Speaking about her parents, she explained that she had already set up food delivery services for them in case they can’t get out to the shops themselves.

‘They’re in good health but you don’t want people to start feeling isolated and anxious and closing in on themselves,’ she added to the Sun’s Fabulous magazine.

Kate’s words came just weeks before husband Derek was taken to hospital and tested positive for Covid-19.

A spokesperson for the presenter confirmed the news to Metro.co.uk in a statement, which read: ‘Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of Covid-19.

‘He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus.

‘Kate, hasn’t been tested, however she has also been displaying mild symptoms, also since Monday, and as a result has been on strict isolation with her children at home.’

An insider also said the I’m A Celebrity star was ‘sick with worry’ over her husband’s health.

‘This is a desperate situation for Kate who is sick with worry about Derek’s health,’ they told the Sun.

‘He is intensive care battling coronavirus and for obvious reasons she is beside herself.’

Kate and former Labour adviser Derek have been married since 2005, and share children Darcey and William together.

And a string of famous faces have rallied around the couple over the health scare.

Fellow GMB presenter Piers Morgan shared his support for Kate on Twitter, writing: ‘Now it’s been made public, I can say this horrendous situation has brought the Coronavirus crisis sharply into the hearts of all of us @GMB.

‘My love & prayers to Kate & Derek.’

While Susanna Reid added: ‘All my love to Kate and Derek.’
