Kate Garraway: GMB host faces her fear of heights on I’m A Celebrity 2019

Kate Garraway faced her biggest fear on day one of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2019 today.

The Good Morning Britain star said she was most afraid of heights before heading to the Australian jungle to take part in the reality TV show.

Today she was photographed taking part in the terrifying Walk the Plank challenge at the top of the Focus Tower in Surfers Paradise near Brisbane, for scenes which will air on TV at the weekend.

Facing her fear head on, the presenter cautiously walked along a thin plank, protruding from the tall 235 meter building, and down a ladder onto another platform.

Wearing a light blue top and navy blue trousers, Kate donned a safety harness and hard hat to attempt the tricky challenge.

She went head to head with Irish stand-up comedian Andrew Maxwell, 44, to compete for food for her team’s first night in camp.

Before heading to Australia, Kate said: “I am terrified of all of the things in the Jungle, especially heights – it is the crazy heights on thin bits suspended on bits of metal or wood.”

It sounds like Kate may have to conquer her biggest fear with this first challenge.

Also pictured Walking the Plank in the Gold Coast sunshine was EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa, 27.

The actress, who is best known for playing Lauren Branning in the BBC One soap, was snapped on the death-defying ledge alongside TV star and former footballer Ian Wright, 56.

The pair wore expressions of pure concentration while tackling the tough challenge against each other.

Mum-of-two Jacqueline is going to be in for a shock over the next month following her previous admission.

She said: “I have never done rock climbing, jumped out of a plane or camped in my life. I am not that kind of girl.”

When Kate was asked what role she will play around the campfire, the television star revealed she is “quite a good cook”, so we may see her taking on the cooking duties when the contestants finally end up in camp.

Worrying about pressure of this role, she went on to add: “I think one of the worst crimes is probably to burn the rice when you are only given a little bit”.

The I’m A Celeb constants famously survive on a meagre ration of rice and beans while staying in the jungle and have to face terrifying and disgusting Bush Tucker Trials in order to win food for the camp.
