I’m a Celeb campmate Kate Garraway has revealed the ladies in the camp blocked off the cameras for each other while they washed in the showers.
Knowing the eyes of the nation would be on them, Kate, 52, said the women in the camp were “embarrassed” about people seeing them during their swimsuit-clad wash.
She confessed they were “nervous” to be body shamed, and initially made a pact with one another that they would cover each other while they washed and shaved.
They were reluctant to use the shower at all at the start, said Kate, but they gave in when they realised the alternative was “getting really, really really smelly”.

“By the end of it, you’re just rubbing away and shaving”, she said.
“You think, ‘I’m never going in that shower, it’s too embarrassing’.
“But it is the only way to wash.”
She added that campmate Caitlyn Jenner’s confident inspired her, as Caitlyn is 70 and received a lot of scrutiny over her body because she is transgender.

“You think ‘if she’s brave enough to shower then, you know, then we’ll all get in'”, said Kate.
She added: “There’s nowhere to hide.
There’s one or two cameras you can see.”
Kate revealed she doesn’t like to change clothes even in front of friends, so she had to give herself a pep talk beforehand.

She also said her big black swimming costume became immediately unusable because it got covered in cockroaches and fish guts during a trial, so she had to wear her bikini.
“It smelt so bad”, she added.
Before she entered the jungle, she told The Mirror she was nervous about the famous shower scenes.
“I am very nervous about that because I’ve got an ordinary body. I’ve not got a celebrity body. That’s the problem, I’ve not got a celebrity body,” she said.

“I’m taking in a skimpy bikini and I’m going to see if the experience of being in the jungle is enough to make me let go of that fear, and by the end of it I actually put that bikini on,” she revealed.
In recent years Kate lost two stone by overhauling her diet and cutting back on sugar and caffeine.
She also said she lost a further stone while she was in the jungle as the celeb’s diet is rationed.
