Kate Chastain has decided to quit Bravo’s Below Deck after six seasons on the reality series.

Below Deck follows crew members, known as yachties, who work aboard huge yachts and cater to the needs of their passengers, from party-goers to millionaires, as they travel around the world.

Kate first joined the series in season two, but recently announced to fans that she has now quit the show and won’t be returning for season eight.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new land-based role.’

‘I intend to step back as a senior member of the Below Deck family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support His Majesty Andy Cohen,’ she joked while name-dropping the Watch What Happens Live host.

Kate had hinted she was planning to leave during Below Deck’s reunion show for season seven. She was seen saying on camera: ‘Personally, this has been a very challenging season for me. I think I’m ready for a new adventure.’

Season seven in particular had been quite hard on Kate, with fans seeing her lock horns with the all-male crew and clash with Boson Ashton Pienaar over their different ways of doing things.

But, one person who will always have her back is Captain Lee Rosbach.

He said on Below Deck After Show: ‘I’m always going to have her back because she doesn’t she away from doing the right thing. And I’m such a firm believer in that. It may be uncomfortable, it may feel like sh*t, but you have to do it.’

Kate, who has been yachting for 13 years now since 2007, first appeared in Below Deck in 2014 during its second series.

It’s since gone on to see two spin-off shows hit the small screen, Below Deck: Mediterranean and Below Deck: Sailing Yacht which aired earlier this month.
