Kanye West teenage art worth up to $23,000 according to Antiques Roadshow expert

A portfolio of artwork made by Kanye West when he was a teenager could be worth up to $23,000, according to an expert on Antiques Roadshow.

A recent segment focused on the musician’s early artwork, with several pieces being appraised.

The man who brought them said he’s married to West’s first cousin, who received the artwork after West’s mother died in 2007.

The portfolio is dated circa 1995, the year West turned 18.

A flyer advertising an early showing of his work lists West as being 17 years old and interested in pursuing a career as a music producer.

Laura Woolley, an independent appraiser featured on the PBS show, said: “We now have a very established market for many musicians and celebrities who do artwork.

“So to have early pieces like this from someone who really will be an important cultural figure of our time – I think it’s really fantastic.”

Woolley then gave prices for four separate pieces, which all put together come to a total of $16,000 to $23,000.
