Kanye West and Chick-Fil-A have joined forces to provide 300,000 meals to vulnerable people amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The rapper and the American fast-food chain teamed up with a non-profit Christian organisation called the Los Angeles Dream Centre.

Together, they will be handing out 11,000 meals a day to the needy in LA.

The organisations’ founder, Matthew Barnett, told Fox News: ‘Every morning I wake up and stand in the parking lot with our dedicated staff, I am blown away that day after day, week after week, there is enough food to provide to folks that need it.

He continued: ‘I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy, and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community.

‘I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality. This is what a neighbourhood, a community, and a church should always look like.’

Meanwhile, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian revealed at the end of March that her shapewear brand SKIMS were giving $1 million (£813,000) to support mothers and their babies.

Taking to Instagram, she shared: ‘To support Mothers and Children in need during this time, I’m proud to announce @SKIMS is committed to donating $1M to families affected by COVID-19.

‘On Monday, we will restock the collection we first launched with, and in doing so, be able to help bring relief to those affected by this pandemic.’

She is also hoping to produce medical-grade face masks to make up for the shortages.

‘I’ve been working with our partners in other companies that have donated masks and we’re working with our fragrance company to get sanitizer made,’ she said during a from-home appearance on The View.

With the spread of the virus causing lockdowns, more than half of Los Angeles residents are unemployed.

There are over 33,000 cases of the virus in California, with more almost 14,000 being in Los Angeles alone.
