Kanye West has defended his decision to sell his new Yeezy Gap collection out of ‘rubbish bags’, saying that he is ‘an innnovator’ that refuses to ‘apologise about [sic] my ideas’.

The rapper, who is known for making unconventional decisions when it comes to his fashion and marketing, also corrected reports calling the bags ‘rubbish bags’, pointing out they were ‘large construction bags’ instead.

It also appeared they were a deliberate choice with a reason, as can usually be expected from the 45-year-old producer and designer.

In a new interview, he was questioned on the ‘sensitivity’ of using the bags in his latest drop as it could offend the homeless community.

‘Look man, I’m an innovator, and I’m not here to sit up and apologize about [sic] my ideas,’ he responded.

‘That’s exactly what the media tries to do: make us apologize for any idea that doesn’t fall under exactly the way they want us to think,’ he added to Fox News reporter Eric Shawn.

Shawn also explained that Kanye had corrected the description of the sacks to ‘construction bags’ and said that placing the folded clothes inside them was to encourage shoppers to help themselves in an informal fashion.

The reporter explained that Kanye’s goal was apparently to ‘make life easier and informal so we can all basically dress in the dark’.

Knaye, who worked at Gap part-time when he was younger, continued: ‘This is not a joke, this is not a game, this is not just a celebrity collaboration – this is my life. I’m fighting for a position to be able to change clothing and bring the best design to the people.’

Fans had previously been quite baffled when seeing the latest release of clothes from the collection, which some dubbed ‘gentrified thrifting’.

Others also questioned the sharp contrast between the ‘luxury’ price tag and ‘budget’ experience, with Yeezy Gap hoodies currently on sale for £260 in the UK.

One shopper posted a photo of the clothes strewn on top of black bags on the shop floor, writing: ‘This is how they are selling Yeezy GAP. The sales associate said Ye got mad when he saw they had it on hangers and this is how he wanted it. They won’t help you find ur [sic] size too, you just have to just dig through everything.’

Elsewhere, Kanye’s former pal Kid Cudi has said it would take a ‘miracle’ for them to repair their 14-year friendship, following the rapper’s recent online behaviour, which saw him take swipes at Cudi and ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s former boyfriend Pete Davidson, among others.
