Kaia Gerber pays homage to mum Cindy Crawford in Versace dress at her 18th birthday

Kaia Gerber is the spitting image of her mother Cindy Crawford, and has inherited her prowess on the runway.

So it’s no wonder the model paid homage to her mum on her 18th birthday.

Kaia found time in the middle of New York Fashion Week to celebrate her birthday with a quirky party at New York’s Edition Hotel.

And she was seriously embodying the 90s supermodel vibes – despite the fact that she was born in 2001.

The model wore an updated replica of the Versace dress her mum wore to the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, and we can’t decide who wore it best. Let’s say it’s a tie.

Kaia’s Versace look took the sheer bodice with bondage-style belts from her mum’s original look and threw in a studded leather mini-skirt with a gold belt and knee-high black and gold gladiator heels.

The star also probably used a crate of hairspray to tease her hair into the incredible bouffant do she was rocking.

Kaia finished off the look with a dramatic cat eye and some Blue Steel, as she headed into the venue.

Meanwhile, Cindy decided not to twin with her lookalike this time around, choosing instead to embody Cher circa Studio 54.

The 53-year-old wore a gold boiler suit, paired with a metallic beaded wig, as she entered the hotel with husband Rande Gerber, who kept things more low key in a cowboy-style shirt.

Speaking to Vogue, Kaia said: ‘Being 18…means independence. Age is very much so a concept, I think it places a label on you.

‘Ever since I was younger people told me I was a really old soul. Because I felt I understood things I never learned.

‘I would tell my younger self to worry a little bit less. And how beauty and confidence all comes from how you feel inside. I just hope the next 18 years I can spend learning more and educating myself more.’
