Juventus will listen to offers in the region of £35million for Emre Can as Manchester United consider a January move for the former Liverpool star.

German midfielder Can made over 150 appearances for Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Liverpool, helping the Reds reach the final of both the Champions League and Europa League.

The 25-year-old was sold to Italian giants Juventus in the summer of 2018 and he picked up a Serie A winners’ medal in his first full season at the club.

Can has fallen out of favour under new manager Maurizio Sarri, however, and is being linked with a move ahead of the January transfer window.

Struggling Premier League giants Manchester United have expressed interest in signing the ex-Liverpool star and Sky Sports say a deal would cost Ed Woodward around £35m.

Can is still waiting for his first start of the season and Juventus appeared to hint at his imminent exit when he was omitted from their Champions League squad.

That snub convinced Can to consider a move and he said last month: ‘The fact that I am not in the Champions League squad is extremely shocking for me, mainly because I was promised something different last week.

‘I had talks with other clubs [in the summer] and one of the conditions for me to stay was to be part of the Champions League squad.

‘Then they phoned me and told me, in a conversation that didn’t even last a minute, that I was not on the list and they didn’t give an explanation.

‘That makes me angry and furious, they haven’t been honest with me. If I knew about it earlier, I would not have stayed at Juventus.’

Can subsequently apologised for his comments on social media.

Manchester United have lost Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in the last two transfer windows and failed to replace the midfielder duo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he is open to bolstering his squad in January, telling Sky Sports: ‘If there are players available and at the right price, I’m sure we will spend.

‘There might be some experienced players who can come in and help the younger players – that might be worth the money.’

Manchester United, who are currently 14th in the Premier League, face leaders Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
